· India · Times of India, India Today, Hindustan Times
Twelve people were killed and several others injured after a speeding truck ran over devotees travelling to the Sheetla Mata Temple in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The truck, loaded with paddy, broke through police barricades before losing control and crashing into the temple's outer wall and gate around 1.30am on Sunday. Gwalior SSP Dharmveer Singh stated that the vehicle entered a restricted road descending from the Chhinor side. A total of 39 people were hospitalised, with five to six victims in critical condition with fractures, alongside two injured police personnel. Authorities have deployed an RTO team to inspect the vehicle and launched an investigation into how the truck bypassed the police checkpoint established for Navratri.
