Spotify launches native in-car app with video and lyrics support
· Technology · Android Authority, Mezha
Spotify unveiled a native in-car application that brings video playback, synchronized lyrics, and smarter controls directly to vehicle dashboards. The app is designed to function independently of smartphone mirroring, allowing drivers to access the full suite of features without needing a connected phone. Android Authority reports the update aims to deepen integration with modern infotainment systems across supported models. The rollout brings the streaming experience into the car cabin as a standalone application rather than a projection of the mobile app.
Why it matters
Drivers with compatible vehicles can now access Spotify’s video content and lyrics without switching to phone-based projection, potentially reducing distractions and enhancing the cabin experience. The update signals Spotify’s push to become a first-class resident inside the car dashboard rather than a secondary phone app.
