Spotify Launches Playlist Notes for Listeners and Editors

· Technology · TechCrunch, Music Ally, musically

Spotify has introduced a new feature called Playlist Notes, allowing users to add personal context to songs, podcasts, and audiobooks within their playlists. Listeners can now attach notes to tracks in playlists they own or collaborate on, which are visible to anyone viewing the collection. Spotify is also implementing this feature for its editorial playlists, such as Today’s Top Hits and RapCaviar, to provide insight into song selection. Additionally, the company launched Editor Profiles to showcase the top tracks and playlists curated by its staff. The feature is currently rolling out to iOS and Android users across more than 100 markets, with editor-specific updates available in select countries including the U.S., U.K., and Australia.

Why it matters

The update deepens social integration for Spotify’s 777 million monthly active users, allowing for more personalized content sharing while distinguishing the platform from competitors like Apple Music.
