Indian sprinter Gurindervir Singh begins his men's 100m campaign at the Asian Games 2026 alongside compatriot Animesh Kujur. Gurindervir arrives at the competition following a challenging season that included running 10.39 seconds in his heat at the Commonwealth Games in July and finishing seventh at a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet in Bhubaneswar. He subsequently clocked 10.32 seconds in Delhi on September 10, though he trailed behind Animesh Kujur's timing of 10.21 seconds. The 25-year-old athlete has spent the intervening weeks focusing on physique, weight training, track work, and endurance to fix block exits and his final 20 metres. Gurindervir holds a national record of 10.09 seconds and stated that securing a medal remains his primary objective at the Games.
Why it matters
