Spurious Liquor Tragedy in Gujarat Claims Seven Lives Due to Methanol

Police investigations into seven deaths resulting from contaminated liquor in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, revealed that the victims consumed a drink containing 38.59 percent methanol. Forensic lab reports confirmed the presence of the highly toxic substance, which is absent in licensed alcoholic beverages. The deceased include Upendrasinh Chandrasinh Gohil, Kartik Ashwin Makwana, Ghanshyamsinh Jaypalsinh Jadeja, Kanaksinh Hanubha Gohil, Narendrasinh Yadav, Jay Jitu Bhatti, and Hitesh Dileep Parmar, one of whom was allegedly involved in manufacturing the liquor. Authorities have named 21 accused in the FIR registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Gujarat Prohibition Act, identifying Gautam Solanki as the alleged ringleader. Investigators found that the accused procured raw materials including methanol from Ahmedabad to produce multiple batches of illegal liquor in the dry state.
