Sri Lanka Lower Order Resists India on Day Three in Colombo
· Sports · Times of India, Indian Express, NDTV Sports
Sri Lanka reached 265/8 at stumps on Day 3 of the second Test in Colombo, trailing India by 38 runs to avoid the follow-on. Sonal Dinusha anchored the resistance with an unbeaten 85, recording his third fifty-plus score in as many innings. Dinusha shared a 57-run stand with Keshara Nuwantha and an unbroken 35-run partnership with Lahiru Kumara before rain and bad light halted play. Earlier, Pasindu Sooriyabandara contributed a well-made 80 and formed an 87-run partnership with Kamindu Mendis to steady the hosts. India reduced Sri Lanka to 216/7 by tea with wickets from Manav Suthar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna, but struggled to dismiss the lower order.
Why it matters
Sri Lanka's lower-order resilience delays India's victory push and leaves the follow-on target within reach heading into Day 4.
