Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has criticised the selectors for naming a full-strength squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi, calling the decision a "mistake." Srikkanth argued that the home series against a weaker opponent was the ideal opportunity to blood youngsters rather than rushing back to the experienced combination used against England. India are coming off a 0-2 T20I loss to Ireland and a 0-4 defeat to England in July. Shreyas Iyer will captain the 15-member squad with Tilak Varma as deputy, while 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi retains his place after the Zimbabwe series. Bumrah's inclusion remains subject to fitness clearance, and Hardik Pandya has missed out after another rehabilitation setback. The matches are scheduled for September 13, 15 and 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
