SpaceX’s Starlink has submitted a new filing to the Indian telecommunications regulator to seek approval for a satellite internet service that can connect directly to consumer devices without a ground‑based base station. The request follows an earlier application that has not yet been cleared by the Ministry of Communications. Starlink says the direct‑to‑device model could bring high‑speed broadband to remote and rural areas that lack existing telecom infrastructure. The company’s application will be evaluated by the Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) wing of the telecom ministry. No specific launch date or pricing has been announced, and the regulator’s decision remains pending.
