Starlink Speed Restrictions Disrupt Ukrainian Front-Line Military Operations
· World · BBC News, Moneycontrol, Times of India
Speed restrictions on the Starlink communications network have disrupted Ukrainian battlefield missions along the front line. Ukrainian adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov stated that SpaceX implemented an overnight speed limit of 100mph on Starlink terminals without prior notice to troops. A Ukrainian defence ministry source confirmed that connectivity restrictions were detected at speeds above 160 km/h, complicating logistics and unmanned systems operations. Meanwhile, overnight Russian missile and drone strikes left at least 600,000 people in Ukraine without electricity, hitting critical infrastructure in Kyiv and Kharkiv. The root cause of the Starlink restrictions remains under investigation, and SpaceX has not commented on the matter.
Why it matters
The disruption of Starlink connectivity directly impacts Ukrainian military logistics and drone operations during active conflict.
