Student Attacked After Reporting Drug Use at Thodupuzha Institute

A 19-year-old student taking a laptop and mobile repair course in Thodupuzha was allegedly assaulted after reporting drug abuse at his institute in the Idukki district. After noticing three fellow students using ganja, the victim informed faculty members who instructed him to record video evidence, which he subsequently handed over. Although officials questioned the accused students, they took no disciplinary action and failed to inform the police. Following widespread coverage of the incident, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala directed the Idukki District Police Chief to take strict action. Police registered a case against the accused on charges of attempt to murder and under the Anti Ragging Act, while SFI activists staged a protest demanding stern measures.
