Student Launches Bribes.fyi to Crowdsource Corruption Reports in India
· India · India Today, Hindustan Times, LiveMint
BTech student Aryan Nishad has launched Bribes.fyi, a crowdsourced platform that allows Indian citizens to report incidents of bribery in government offices. Users can submit details including the specific department, city, and the amount demanded, while choosing to remain anonymous. The website, which went live on July 2, has already recorded 616 reports across 251 cities. Nishad reportedly used AI to develop the platform, which organizes data to highlight regional and departmental corruption patterns. The site explicitly states that its data represents a self-selected sample and should not be considered a definitive measure of national corruption rates.
Why it matters
The platform provides a public, searchable database for citizens to track and compare reported corruption experiences across various government departments in India.
