Students Protest RSS Leader J Nandakumar at Central University of Kerala
· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu
Students at the Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod staged protests on Tuesday against the presence of RSS leader J Nandakumar at a seminar marking the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. Activists from student groups including the Kerala Students Union, Muslim Students Federation, Students Federation of India, and All India Students' Federation gathered outside the venue after alleging they were denied entry despite prior registration. Protesters chanted slogans against the RSS and engaged in push-and-pull with heavy police forces deployed at the site. A university official serving as the Dean of Student Affairs told reporters he was unaware why registered students were excluded and would consult event organisers. The two-day seminar is organised by the Sahitya Akademi alongside the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad and the university, with Kerala and Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar scheduled as the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony.
