· World · The Hindu, NDTV
Suhas Subramanyam, 40, has been re-elected as U.S. Congressman from Virginia's 10th congressional district, securing over 61.5% of the vote against Republican Dave Beckwith, who won 36.4% of ballots cast. The Indian-origin Democrat, who previously served in the Virginia General Assembly and Virginia State Senate, defeated Beckwith in a decisive victory. Subramanyam, a former advisor to President Barack Obama and small business owner, won re-election in the November 2026 midterms. Born in Houston to Indian parents, he campaigned on expanding health care access, immigration reform, and veteran support.
Why it matters
Subramanyam's re-election strengthens Indian-American representation in the U.S. House, reflecting the growing political influence of the diaspora in key swing districts and affirming voter confidence in his record on health care and veterans' issues.
