· India · Indian Express, India Today
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal launched the Vibe Punjab Di youth outreach programme at Khalsa College in Patiala on Thursday to connect with Gen Z voters. Clad in a white kurta-pajama, Badal interacted with students aged between 18 and 25 through a mix of political questions and lighter conversations about his personal life, technology, and agriculture. Addressing queries on agricultural technology, he discussed his experiments with soilless farming and promised an 80 per cent subsidy for farmers adopting tech-oriented methods if the party returns to power. On the state's fiscal situation, he distinguished between good and bad debts used for development versus non-development expenditures. The event followed his earlier pamphlet distribution campaign in Chandigarh earlier in the day.
Why it matters
The outreach initiative targets young voters in Punjab ahead of upcoming political developments, focusing on key voter concerns such as agricultural technology and state finances.
