Sunil and Lone Lead Bowling Attack as Jammu & Kashmir Bowls Out Rest of India for 237
· Sports · Sportstar, ESPNCricinfo
Jammu and Kashmir restricted the Rishabh Pant-led Rest of India to 237 on the opening day of the Irani Cup fixture at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. Left-arm pace bowler Sunil Kumar and teammate Lone Nasir picked up three wickets each to dismantle the opposition batting lineup. Despite pristine overhead conditions and a healthy grass covering on the pitch, Rest of India batters Shikhar Mohan and Ravichandran Smaran offered resistance with scores of 60 and 68 respectively. A mid-innings collapse saw the visitors lose five wickets for 49 runs between lunch and tea after Nasir dismissed Shikhar. In response, Rest of India pacers Mukesh Choudhary and Akash Deep struck late to leave Jammu and Kashmir at 21 for two at stumps.
Why it matters
The performance of Jammu and Kashmir's pace attack on a seam-friendly pitch highlights the depth of domestic fast bowling talent outside traditional cricketing centers.
