Sunil Gavaskar Advises India to Stop Searching for Hardik Pandya Replacement
· Sports · Times of India, Indian Express
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar believes India should stop trying to find a direct replacement for all-rounder Hardik Pandya because of his unique skill set. Speaking after India's 2-2 T20I series draw against West Indies, Gavaskar recommended selecting players who can fulfill different roles while keeping a strong specialist bowling attack. He pointed to Naman Dhir as an effective option who can contribute with both bat and ball. Gavaskar also warned that packing the batting lineup too deep weakens the bowling unit.
Why it matters
Gavaskar's assessment challenges team selection strategies for India's limited-overs squad, emphasizing balance over forced all-rounder replacements.
