Supreme Court Defers NEET PG 2026 Re-Exam Plea to Designated Bench

A plea challenging the proposed NEET-PG 2026 re-examination for 2,445 affected candidates was mentioned before the Supreme Court on Wednesday. A lawyer argued that the re-examination violated an earlier order passed by the top court and sought an urgent hearing. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, declined to entertain the matter and directed the lawyer to approach the designated bench headed by Justice PS Narasimha, which hears all NEET-related cases. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the re-examination earlier this week for candidates who could not complete the August 30 NEET-PG 2026 exam due to a power-related disruption at two centres in Jaipur's Sitapura area. Of the 2,65,980 candidates who appeared for the exam, 2,63,535 successfully completed it, leaving exactly 2,445 candidates affected by the technical failure.
