Supreme Court Refuses to Block Sep 5 CJP March in Delhi

The Supreme Court declined to stop the CJP (Commission for Jawaharlal Nehru Port) workers' march scheduled for September 5 in Delhi, saying there is no basis to assume any untoward incident will occur. A bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said the petitioner's concerns could be placed before the High Power Committee already constituted by the Court to investigate violence and maintain order. The petitioner had sought intervention citing security fears ahead of the protest. The Court left the route, timing and conditions of the march to the Committee's assessment.
