Supreme Court Rejects CBSE Revaluation Plea Over OSM Glitches

· India · Hindustan Times, Indian Express

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking a regulatory framework for the Central Board of Secondary Education’s On Screen Marking system, citing the risk of opening a Pandora’s Box of litigation. The court observed that reopening the revaluation window for Class 12 students would disrupt the completed college admission process. Lawyer Rakesh Binjola had moved the court alleging that technical glitches in the OSM system caused result discrepancies for tens of thousands of students. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued that 168,000 students had already utilized the revaluation window and further changes were not feasible. The bench ultimately ruled that students who missed the initial application period cannot now seek relief.
