Supreme Court Seeks Response on Pranit More's Plea to Club FIRs

The Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the states of Maharashtra and Haryana alongside the Union government on a petition filed by stand-up comedian Pranit More. The plea requests the clubbing of multiple FIRs registered against him following a controversial show in Gurugram involving misogynistic remarks by an audience member. Appearing for the comedian, advocate Vidula Mehrotra stated that her client was only the host, had already deleted the video, and rendered a public apology. The Maharashtra Cyber Police previously registered an FIR against Mr. More, audience member Himanshu Jangra, and another individual under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the IT Act. The National Commission for Women also summoned the comedian after public outrage spread over the viral clip.
