Suresh Oberoi Recalls Struggling To Secure Vivek Oberoi's Debut Role
· Entertainment · Indian Express, NDTV
Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi revealed that he went door to door with photographs to help launch his son Vivek Oberoi's acting career. Vivek eventually secured his debut role in Ram Gopal Varma's 2002 crime drama Company after the director reviewed an audition tape from an acting institute. However, Vivek Oberoi previously stated in an interview that he secured the role entirely on his own merit by auditioning under the name Vivek Anand. Vivek recalled that Ram Gopal Varma initially rejected him for looking too polished, prompting him to rent a space near a slum and alter his appearance. Suresh Oberoi noted that Company remains his proudest moment, while naming Saathiya as his personal favourite of his son's films.
