· India · Times of India, NDTV
West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari has projected that the BJP will secure the Nandigram assembly seat by a margin exceeding 50,000 votes in the upcoming by-election. The bypoll was triggered after Adhikari vacated the Nandigram seat to retain his position in Bhabanipur. The Trinamool Congress has fielded Sanchita Pradhan as its candidate for Nandigram, while Rabiul Alam Chowdhury will contest the Rejinagar seat. Voting for these constituencies is scheduled for October 6, with the final results expected on October 9.
Why it matters
The outcome of this by-election will test the BJP's electoral influence in Nandigram following the recent assembly elections and the TMC's efforts to consolidate its local support.
