West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Sunday that his government intends to implement a Uniform Civil Code in the state, following the models established in Uttarakhand and Gujarat. The state government has already formed a high-level committee, led by former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, to draft a UCC bill for West Bengal. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced a Rs 1,000 crore religious tourism circuit project expected to be completed within two years.
