Despite being informed of the rules by villa staff, he shared videos of himself walking on a beach and using an expletive to describe the tradition. The court ruled that his actions provoked public outrage and offended the faith of the Balinese people. Zgraggen apologized during his trial, claiming he was hungry and did not fully understand the scope of the observance.
