Synthesia Creates First Interactive Digital Avatar of a Journalist
· Technology · TechCrunch
Video-generation startup Synthesia has created an interactive digital avatar of TechCrunch journalist Dom Hofmann, marking the company's first such project for a journalist. Hofmann visited Synthesia's new office space in New York in September, where the company captured two minutes of his voice and numerous photos in a mini film studio. The newly created digital twin is trained specifically on Hofmann's article about venture-backed startups and fraud. Synthesia, originally based in the U.K., reached a $4 billion valuation earlier this year and surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue last year. The company's platform allows enterprises to build interactive training videos and use AI avatars for roleplay sessions.
