TakeMe2Space to Launch Orbital Computing Satellite on SpaceX
· Technology · Economic Times, Indian Express, Reuters
Indian space startup TakeMe2Space plans to launch India's first orbital computing satellite aboard a SpaceX Transporter-18 rideshare mission on October 1. The sub-50 kg spacecraft, named MOI-1A, carries Nvidia Orin NX edge-computing processors to process data in orbit rather than transmitting raw datasets back to Earth. Founder and CEO Ronak Samantray stated that the startup has signed 23 customers, including geographic information system firms and educational institutions. Customers can upload containerized AI models to analyze data as the satellite passes over specified regions, reducing raw data download costs.
Why it matters
The launch marks a significant technological milestone for Indian private space startups entering the commercial edge-computing in space market.
