Stalin was arrested from his Chennai residence on August 4 and released on station bail the same day after critics interpreted his comments as a vulgar allusion to actor Trisha. Stalin denied making any objectionable comments and accused the government of political vendetta. Vijay stated that the law will take its course if women are insulted.
