Tamil Nadu CM Announces Major Infrastructure Projects for Madurai and Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a ₹1,000-crore investment package to upgrade drinking water supply systems across Madurai, Cuddalore, and several municipalities. The plan includes a ₹1,400-crore initiative to repair 40-year-old underground sewage lines in Madurai. Additionally, the government has allocated ₹1,850 crore for road repairs in Chennai and other urban local bodies, specifically targeting areas damaged during utility line installations. New waste-to-energy projects are also scheduled for Tirunelveli and Salem, with capacities of 9 MW and 10 MW respectively. The state will further implement a green initiative to plant one crore tree saplings to improve urban environmental conditions.
