Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay condemned the killing of three Tamil men in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary as a massacre. The men, named Anthony Sami, John Rose Peter and Kumar, were shot on 15 August after an exchange of fire alleged to involve poaching. Vijay rejected the Karnataka Forest Department’s claim that its personnel fired in defence after the men opened fire and demanded an impartial, high‑level inquiry. The incident has also drawn criticism from DMK president MK Stalin and prompted Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar to order a magisterial inquiry into the circumstances.
