Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Announces Expanded Farm Loan Waiver

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a farm loan waiver of up to ₹75,000 for marginal and small farmers, marking an increase from the previous limit of ₹50,000. Under the new policy, farmers with loans between ₹75,000 and ₹1 lakh will receive a maximum waiver of ₹75,000, while those with debts exceeding ₹1 lakh will receive a waiver of ₹35,000. The government has already credited ₹5,267 crore to the accounts of 13.34 lakh farmers. This additional relief measure will impose an estimated financial burden of ₹953.06 crore on the state exchequer. The announcement was made on the day the coalition government completed its first 100 days in office.
