Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has postponed his one-gram gold ring scheme for newborns, originally scheduled for September 15, to prepare for his first official overseas visit to London. The scheme offers a one-gram gold ring worth approximately Rs 13,600 to every newborn delivered at a government health facility. During his trip to the UK capital, Vijay is expected to pitch Tamil Nadu as an investment destination and invite European companies to establish businesses in the state. Before his departure on Wednesday night via Emirates Airlines, he is scheduled to chair a second alliance coordination meeting at the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam headquarters in Panaiyur to discuss coalition arrangements and a Common Minimum Programme. Senior officials from the industries and finance departments will accompany the Chief Minister to prepare for investor meetings.
