Tamil Nadu Faces Heavy Rainfall Warning Until October 23

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for 17 districts in Tamil Nadu, forecasting continued heavy rainfall until October 23. Northern and interior regions, including Cuddalore and Tiruchi, are expected to receive the most intense downpours. Chennai experienced its first significant northeast monsoon rainfall on October 17, with some areas recording up to 12 cm of precipitation. An upper air cyclonic circulation over north Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh is driving the current weather pattern. While a low pressure area is expected to form over the southwest Arabian Sea, it is not currently projected to significantly impact rainfall levels in the state.
