The Tamil Nadu Students Youth Federation will organise a memorial gathering at Besant Nagar beach in Chennai on September 1 to mark the ninth death anniversary of S. Anitha, a student who died by suicide in 2017 after failing to secure an MBBS seat through the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET). During a press conference in Chennai on Wednesday, August 26, Federation leaders called on students and youth across Tamil Nadu to observe the day as anti-NEET day and continue their opposition to the examination. Organizers plan to invite political leaders and film personalities to the event to demonstrate a unified stance against NEET. Representatives emphasized that opposition in the State remains strong, pointing to broader protests such as those at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi demanding accountability for examination irregularities. The Federation appealed to all student organizations, regardless of political affiliation, to participate in the peaceful remembrance.
