Tanya Chaudhary, a 22-year-old athlete from Uttar Pradesh, shattered the national record in the women's hammer throw with a 68.35-metre effort at the Indian Athletics Series Final. She surpassed the previous record of 67.02 metres held by her state-mate Anushka Yadav, who finished second in the event with 66.34 metres. Chaudhary, who trains at the Sri Krishna Inter College Ground in Baghpat, has been managing multiple injuries, including a knee cyst and femur stress injury. She is now targeting a gold medal at the upcoming Asian Games.
