Tata Car Sales Aug 2026 Cross 65k – EV Sales Up 94%, CV Sales Up 49%

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles reported domestic wholesales of 65,253 units in August 2026, its strongest month of FY2026-27, up 59.15% YoY from 41,001 units and 4.22% MoM from July. Including exports, total PV sales reached 67,753 units, a 56.42% YoY jump, with the Punch leading volume growth at an estimated 22,000-plus units. Electric vehicle sales hit a record 16,549 units, up 93.78% YoY, lifting Tata's EV market share to 43.74%, more than four out of every ten EV registrations in India. Car exports touched an all-time high of 2,500 units, up 8.04% YoY, while Vahan retail market share reached 14.7% for the month.
Why it matters
Tata's commanding 43.7% EV share and 14.7% overall PV share put it ahead of rivals heading into the festive season, though rising competition in India's electric car market means sustaining this lead will require sharper pricing and faster model rollouts.
