Teen Driving Car With Liquor Consignment Kills Pedestrian Near Mumbai

A 16-year-old boy driving a car carrying a liquor consignment ran over two women pedestrians in Nalasopara East on Wednesday evening, killing 34-year-old Shreya Misal and seriously injuring 36-year-old Pragati More. The victims, both domestic help residing in Nagindas Pada, were returning home from Vasai when a grey Maruti Eeco allegedly reversing hit them near Datt Nagar. Misal succumbed to her head and body injuries around 9.45pm at Rakiya Hospital, while More underwent surgery on her hand on Thursday. Tulinj police have arrested and booked the minor, along with vehicle owner Rajesh Shah and registered driver Mahesh Naik. Police stated that the minor was not under the influence of alcohol and that the liquor had been legally purchased, though investigators are examining its destination and purpose.
