Teenager Arrested After Taunting Sunderland Fans With Bradley Lowery Photo

· Sports · BBC Sport

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence following an incident at a Premier League match between Coventry City and Sunderland. The teenager handed himself in to West Midlands Police after footage circulated on social media showing him taunting opposition fans with a photograph of the late Bradley Lowery. Bradley, a young Sunderland supporter who died of a rare cancer in 2017, became a widely recognised figure in the football community during his illness. The boy has since been released on bail while the investigation continues. Coventry City officials confirmed they are cooperating with authorities to determine the appropriate response to the offensive behaviour.

Why it matters

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation for mocking a child who became a symbol of courage in the football world, prompting a broader conversation about fan conduct in stadiums.
