Telangana Banks Shut for 4 Days from September 11 Due to Strike; Customers Urged to Use Digital Channels

· Business · The Hindu, Zee News

Bank services in Telangana will be disrupted from September 11 to 14, 2026, due to a strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). No branch banking—including cheque deposits, cash withdrawals, or loan processing—will be available on September 11, with banks also closed on the weekend and Ganesh Chaturthi holiday. The State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), Telangana, has advised customers to use ATMs, internet banking, and UPI to avoid inconvenience. SBI, as the Convenor of SLBC, has warned of potential delays in skeleton services. Over 6,800 bank branches across Telangana will be affected.

Why it matters

Millions of Telangana customers—especially those reliant on physical banking for loans, cash withdrawals, or cheque services—will face significant inconvenience. Small businesses, daily wage earners, and senior citizens may struggle to access funds, while digital adoption will be pushed further amid the disruption.
