· India · The Hindu, NDTV
The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has arrested 101 individuals across six states following a two-week operation targeting cyber fraud networks. The investigation, which spanned Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, uncovered a network involving approximately ₹17 crore in fraudulent transactions. Of those arrested, 19 were identified as agents and 81 as mule account holders, with 18 women among the detainees. The accused were paid commissions of up to 5% for routing illicit funds through their accounts, which were then used for ATM withdrawals and overseas transfers. The arrested individuals represent diverse professional backgrounds, including businessmen, private employees, and homemakers.
Why it matters
