Telangana Extends Cheyutha Pension Application Deadline To September 15

The Telangana government has extended the deadline for submitting applications under the Cheyutha social security pension scheme by 15 days, with the new cutoff set for September 15. The decision follows reports that many eligible applicants, particularly in Hyderabad, faced difficulties completing the process due to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. As of August 31, the state had received over 4.8 lakh applications for the scheme. Widows account for the largest share of applicants at 289,342, followed by 111,652 persons with disabilities.
Why it matters
The extension ensures that vulnerable populations, including persons with disabilities and widows, have additional time to secure access to state-sponsored social security benefits.
