Telangana Orders Probe Into 45-Acre Discrepancy In KCR Family Land Records

· India · India Today, The Hindu

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to issue notices to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family members seeking land records in Siddipet district. The move follows an ongoing probe into a 45-acre discrepancy in Survey No. 325 at Erravalli village, where recent surveys accounted for only 343 out of 388 recorded acres. During a review meeting at the MCRHRD Institute, the Chief Minister ordered a fresh survey covering Erravalli and neighbouring Venkatapuram villages to establish ownership of the missing land. Revanth Reddy also announced plans to distribute identified government land to eligible local farmers and establish a Telangana Martyrs' Colony for families affected during the statehood movement. The Housing Department has been tasked with completing the project by June 2.

Why it matters

The probe directly scrutinises land holdings tied to the state's former political leadership while repurposing disputed acreage for local farmers and families of movement martyrs.
