Telangana Seeks ₹20,000 Crore Central Package for El Nino Impact

The Telangana Legislative Assembly adopted an unopposed resolution requesting a ₹20,000 crore special relief package from the Centre to tackle drought conditions caused by El Nino. Moved by Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka, the resolution urges the central government to declare the drought a national calamity. The State also requested an increase in the FRBM borrowing limit from 3% to 3.5% of the Gross State Domestic Product. Additional demands include funding for drinking water, fodder, crop loss compensation, and an expansion of wage employment days under the VB G-RAM-G scheme.
