Thane Police Files 3,500-Page Chargesheet in Maharashtra TET Paper Leak Case

· India · Indian Express, The Hindu

The Thane city police have filed a nearly 3,500-page chargesheet against 18 accused, including two who remain wanted in the Maharashtra Teachers Eligibility Test paper leak case. Investigators traced the leak to Mahim Patran Pvt Ltd, an Agra-based printing press where current and former employees allegedly smuggled out question papers hidden beneath their shoe insoles for Rs 8,000. Former coaching class teacher Bijendra Gupta has been identified as the mastermind behind the racket. The original question paper was recovered from the Bihar residence of Gupta's relative, who was subsequently arrested. Police have also established the circulation network by tracing financial transactions between the accused.

Why it matters

The chargesheet provides concrete evidence of how systemic security lapses in exam printing presses compromise competitive recruitment tests, affecting thousands of aspiring teachers in Maharashtra.
