Thiruvambady Devaswom Seeks Fresh Probe Into Thrissur Pooram Disruption

· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu

Thiruvambady Devaswom has demanded a fresh and impartial investigation into the disruption of the Thrissur Pooram festival that occurred two years ago. Devaswom secretary K Girish Kumar rejected a Crime Branch report that reportedly implicated temple representatives in the incident, calling the findings completely erroneous. Kumar stated that the organizers would never intentionally disrupt the iconic festival and announced plans to meet Chief Minister V D Satheesan and relevant ministers to seek a fair reinvestigation. Meanwhile, Devaswom Minister K Muraleedharan stated that the UDF government will not blindly accept the Crime Branch report that places blame on the temple office-bearers. The annual temple festival has faced scrutiny and controversy following the disruptions that took the sheen off the celebration.

Why it matters
