Three FIRs Registered After Violence at Kolkata Film Institute

Kolkata Police registered three First Information Reports following a violent clash at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute on September 27, 2026. The confrontation erupted when students clashed with members of the Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat holding an event inside the campus auditorium. According to complaints filed by SRFTI Dean Sukanta Majumder and provincial consumer group head Anjan Sinha, unknown individuals wrongfully restrained students and faculty members while using criminal force and abusive language. A third FIR was lodged by Additional Officer-in-Charge Koushick Bose against a group of students for allegedly manhandling police personnel on duty. Meanwhile, students, artistes, and filmmakers organized a peaceful protest at the main campus gate to condemn the campus violence.
