Three Kerala Students Killed in Germany Fire, Romanian Held
· World · Indian Express, NDTV
Three young Indians from Kerala — Anjali S Joy (27), Nova Sabu (25), and Sivin Johny (25) — died in a fire at a residential building in Bochum, Germany, early on Tuesday. German police arrested a 41-year-old Romanian national on suspicion of murder. Anjali had moved to Germany in July to work in a warehouse after failing to secure a school teaching job in Kerala. Sivin arrived on a work visa on September 14 and was set to begin employment. Their families in Kerala were informed of the tragedy on Wednesday after days of anxiety.
Why it matters
The deaths of three Indian students abroad have intensified grief for families in Kerala and raised concerns about the safety of Indian workers overseas, prompting scrutiny of visa processes and police oversight in host countries.
