Three Killed, Four Injured in Attack on Manipur's N Teikhang Village

· India · Indian Express

Three villagers, including two women, were killed and four others injured after armed assailants attacked N Teikhang Kuki village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 am, when approximately 50 armed individuals allegedly opened fire on residents and set multiple houses on fire. The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Tingneichin Lhouvum, 21-year-old Hoineineng Lhoujem, and 36-year-old Lamtinthang Lhoujem. The Twilang Area Kuki CSO Working Committee has condemned the attack as unprovoked and barbaric. This violence follows an alleged ambush four days earlier that resulted in the deaths of four Naga villagers along the Imphal–Tamenglong Road.

Why it matters

The recurring violence in Kangpokpi district threatens regional stability and exacerbates ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur, impacting the safety of civilian populations in the state's hill areas.
