Tigress Dies After Tranquilisation in Maharashtra’s Amravati, Four Human Lives Lost Since August

A tigress that had killed four people in Maharashtra’s Amravati and Wardha districts since August 17 died while being transported to a rescue centre after being tranquillised on Monday. The big cat had attacked two individuals in the last 24 hours, prompting a high-alert operation involving forest teams, drones, and public awareness drives. The victims included Rambhau Bhoyar (74), Charandas Ikhe (55), Urmila Ivne (18), and Dinesh Aware (45), all from Wardha and Chandur Bazar talukas. The forest department provided financial assistance to the deceased families but could not revive the tigress during transit to Nagpur’s wildlife rescue centre. The cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem.
