A dispute has emerged within the former royal family of Sangli over the right to perform the traditional aarti at the Ganpati Panchayatatan temple. Vijaysinhraje Patwardhan, the head of the family, accused his daughter Bhagyree of forcibly entering the temple's inner sanctum to perform the ritual while he was out of town. The family maintains that the honor belongs to the adopted son, Yuvraj Adityaje, as the legal heir to the Sangli throne. Bhagyree stated that family participation is essential for preserving the city's local traditions. Her mother, Rani Rajlaxmi, claimed illegal financial transactions occurred when Bhagyree and her husband, Himalaya Dassani managed the estate between 2013 and 2016.
