Trainer Allegedly Stabs, Strangles 21-Year-Old Content Creator In West Delhi
· India · Indian Express, Times of India
A 23-year-old gym trainer, Imran, allegedly strangled and stabbed 21-year-old Muskan at her Tilak Nagar home in West Delhi on Wednesday afternoon and fled, police said. Muskan's mother was out buying vegetables and her two sisters were in Chandigarh when Imran, who was likely let in without forced entry, attacked her around 5.40 pm. The two had met in 2024 at the Seven Zone gym, about 2 km from her house, where Imran had joined as a trainer roughly four months ago. Police said Imran had attempted suicide about two months ago, became addicted to drugs, and turned abusive toward Muskan, who had approached police once over the abuse. The gym fired him for erratic behaviour, and a 2021 culpable homicide case was already on his record; he met Muskan at a hotel on August 20, allegedly suspicious she was talking to another man, before the killing.
Why it matters
A young woman pursuing a BA through Delhi University's School of Open Learning and a content creation career was killed inside her own home by someone she knew, exposing how prior abuse complaints, drug use, and unaddressed mental health and criminal history failed to protect her. The case raises urgent questions about women's safety in Delhi and whether earlier intervention by police or the gym could have prevented the killing.
